What's wrong? — deduction
🎯 Po co Ci to? Wyciągniesz wnioski z dowodów (must / might / can't have) — język detektywa na B2.
📖 Tekst — The kitchen mystery
When Marta came home, the kitchen light was on, a chair was lying on its side, and the biscuit tin was empty. The dog looked guilty. „He must have knocked the chair," she thought. „He can't have opened the tin alone — unless someone helped." Then she noticed flour paw-prints leading to her brother's room. Suddenly the story made sense: her brother might have been baking and blamed the dog.
Deduction English separates certainty (must), possibility (might / may / could) and impossibility (can't). Past deductions use modal + have + III forma.
