Reported statements: tense shift, time and place references

🎯 Po co Ci to? Relacjonujesz rozmowę, wiadomość, wywiad: „powiedziała, że jest zmęczona". Egzamin sprawdza cofnięcie czasu (is → was, will → would, did → had done), zmianę zaimków i wyrażeń czasu (tomorrow → the next day) oraz różnicę say / tell.

W kursie: 14.1 (Society and social issues), 14.3 (Politics and the media).

📐 Gramatyka w pigułce — cofnięcie czasu (po said, told w czasie przeszłym)

Mowa niezależna Mowa zależna
Present Simple: I am tired. Past Simple: She said she was tired.
Present Continuous: I*'m working**.* Past Continuous: He said he was working.
Present Perfect: I*'ve finished**.* Past Perfect: She said she had finished.
Past Simple: I saw him. Past Perfect: He said he had seen him.
will: I*'ll** call.* would: She said she would call.
can: I can help. could: He said he could help.
must (obowiązek): I must go. had to: She said she had to go.
may: I may be late. might: He said he might be late.

Bez zmian: would, could, might, should, ought to, used to oraz Past Perfect. Bez cofania, gdy relacja jest w czasie teraźniejszym (She says she is tired) albo gdy fakt nadal jest prawdziwy (He said the Earth is round — cofnięcie też poprawne).

📐 Gramatyka w pigułce — say czy tell

tell + osoba (She told me (that)…), say bez osoby albo z to (She said (that)… / She said to me…). ✗ She said me · ✗ She told that.

⚠️ Częste błędy polskich uczniów

  • ✗ She said me she was tired. → ✓ She told me / said she was tired.
  • ✗ He said that he will come. (relacja w przeszłości) → ✓ He said that he would come.
  • ✗ She said she has finished. → ✓ She said she had finished.
  • ✗ He told me he was here yesterday. (relacja innego dnia, w innym miejscu) → ✓ He told me he had been there the day before.

💭 Pomyśl

💭 Pomyśl: Anna powiedziała w poniedziałek: „I'll see you tomorrow". W środę relacjonujesz to koledze. Dlaczego „She said she would see me tomorrow" byłoby kłamstwem?

Sprawdź odpowiedź

Bo tomorrow z Twojej środy to czwartek, a Anna mówiła o wtorku. Wyrażenia czasu w mowie zależnej przeliczamy względem momentu relacji, nie momentu wypowiedzi: She said she would see me the next day. Gdybyś relacjonował w poniedziałek wieczorem, tomorrow zostałoby, bo wciąż wskazuje wtorek. Cofnięcie zaimków i czasu to nie mechaniczny rytuał, tylko przeliczenie perspektywy.
