wish / if only / it's time

🎯 Po co Ci to? Wish wyraża żal i marzenie, i działa dokładnie jak okresy warunkowe: czas przeszły o teraźniejszości, Past Perfect o przeszłości, would o cudzym zachowaniu, które chcesz zmienić. W podstawie sprawdzane jest wish + Past Simple (I wish you were here); wish o przeszłości, if only, it's time, would rather i as if należą do rozszerzenia.

W kursie: 13.3 (I wish...), 21.2 (unreal past).

📐 Gramatyka w pigułce — wish w podstawie

Konstrukcja Znaczenie Przykład
wish + Past Simple żal o teraźniejszość, chciałbym, żeby było inaczej I wish you were here. I wish I had more time. I wish I could speak Spanish.

Po wish i if only czasownik be przyjmuje were dla wszystkich osób: I wish I were taller. Nie mylić z hope: I hope you pass (realne życzenie na przyszłość, Present Simple / will) vs I wish you were here (nierealne, teraz).

⚠️ Częste błędy polskich uczniów

  • ✗ I wish I have more time. → ✓ I wish I had more time.
  • ✗ I wish I can drive. → ✓ I wish I could drive.
  • ✗ I wish you a good luck. → ✓ I wish you good luck. (tu wish = życzyć, inna konstrukcja, bez rodzajnika)
  • ✗ I wish it will stop raining. → ✓ I wish it would stop raining. (rozszerzenie: would o zmianie)
  • ✗ I hope I were rich. → ✓ I wish I were rich. / I hope I'll be rich.

💭 Pomyśl

💭 Pomyśl: „I wish I lived by the sea" ma czas przeszły, a mówi o teraźniejszości. Co wspólnego ma to zdanie z „If I lived by the sea, I'd swim every day"?

Sprawdź odpowiedź

Oba używają tej samej nierzeczywistej przeszłości: Past Simple nie oznacza tu „kiedyś”, tylko „nie jest tak naprawdę”. Wish to w istocie drugi okres warunkowy bez skutku: I wish I lived by the sea = if only it were true that I live by the sea. Dlatego reguły są identyczne: żal o teraźniejszość → Past Simple, o przeszłość → Past Perfect (rozszerzenie), were zamiast was.
