Adjectives and adverbs: order, comparison, position
🎯 Po co Ci to? Trzy rzeczy, które egzamin sprawdza przy przymiotnikach i przysłówkach: kolejność kilku przymiotników przed rzeczownikiem, stopniowanie (z nieregularnymi i konstrukcjami as … as, the … the) i różnica przymiotnik / przysłówek (good / well, hard / hardly, fast / fast). Do tego przymiotniki z -ed / -ing (bored / boring), najczęstszy błąd w opisie uczuć.
W kursie: 1.2 (kolejność przymiotników), 3.3 (comparatives & superlatives), 10.1 [R] (stopniowanie zaawansowane), 11.3.
📐 Gramatyka w pigułce — kolejność przymiotników
opinia → rozmiar → wiek → kształt → kolor → pochodzenie → materiał → przeznaczenie + rzeczownik: a beautiful small old round wooden table; an expensive Italian leather jacket.
|---|---|---|
| krótkie (1 sylaba, 2 sylaby na -y) | taller, bigger, happier | the tallest, the biggest, the happiest |
| długie | more interesting | the most interesting |
| nieregularne | good → better, bad → worse, far → further / farther, little → less, much / many → more | the best, the worst, the furthest, the least, the most |
Konstrukcje: as … as (Sylvia's garden is not as / so big as Margaret's), much / far / a lot + comparative (much cheaper), the … the … (The older I get, the happier I am — rozszerzenie), less … than (less expensive than), the same as, different from. Stopień najwyższy + ever + Present Perfect: the best film I've ever seen.
📐 Gramatyka w pigułce — przymiotnik czy przysłówek
| Przymiotnik (opisuje rzeczownik) | Przysłówek (opisuje czasownik, przymiotnik, inny przysłówek) |
|---|---|
| She is a careful driver. | She drives carefully. |
| The food was good. | He cooks well. |
| a hard exam; a fast car; a late train | to work hard; to drive fast; to arrive late (ta sama forma!) |
| hardly = prawie wcale (I hardly know him); lately = ostatnio |
Po czasownikach be, seem, look, feel, sound, smell, taste, become stoi przymiotnik, bo opisuje podmiot: It smells good. She looks tired. (nie smells well). Przysłówki częstotliwości (always, usually, often, never) stoją przed czasownikiem głównym, ale po be: I usually get up early. I am usually late.
📐 Gramatyka w pigułce — -ed czy -ing
-ed = jak się czuję (bored, interested, surprised, tired); -ing = jaki ktoś lub coś jest, co wywołuje uczucie (boring, interesting, surprising, tiring). The lecture was boring, so I was bored.
⚠️ Częste błędy polskich uczniów

💭 Pomyśl
💭 Pomyśl: „I hardly worked" i „I worked hard".
